Sport and Physical Education at Newhall Park Primary School
The Government is providing funding of £150 million per annum until 2020 to provide new, substantial primary school support funding. This funding is provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport. The funding is going directly to primary schools to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all of their children.
At Newhall Park we believe in providing children with a broad and balanced PE curriculum which will motivate children to lead healthy lifestyles. We place great emphasis on the role that sport and extra curricular clubs play in promoting social inclusion, healthy lifestyles and self confidence. Our school mini buses allow us to travel to and from competitions and festivals in order to allow children to be involved in as many events as possible, particularly competitions against other children and schools.
Last academic year was another very successful one for sport and physical education at Newhall Park. We continued our membership of the local Accelerate sports league and of the twenty three local schools involved we finished in second place. The league reflected how successful we were at these events and also how many competitions we entered. Out of a possible forty seven events Newhall Park participated in forty five competitions.
We are thrilled to be the first school in the local area of South Bradford to be accredited the Sainsbury's Active Kite Mark Gold Award. For the previous three years we have gained the silver award.
The school aims to maintain this level of commitment to PE and Sport once the grant ceases by funding the items/projects from other sources of income.
