  • MP visit

    Wed 01 Feb 2017
Last Friday, upper key stage 2 were visited by the MP for Bradford South. Judith Cummins spent time explaining her role and duties as an MP before taking questions from the children. Judith was quizzed about her views on a range of issues including nuclear power, the renewal of Trident and the voting system. The children had a great time and as a result, we are hoping to arrange a trip to the House of Commons for next year.
  • Spider class

    Wed 01 Feb 2017

On Tuesday 10th and Thursday 17th, Spider class took part in a sculpture building workshop at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The children spent the two days moving around different areas of the park, sketching and appreciating the difference styles and designs of a range of artists' sculptures. They were also given the opportunity to build some sculptures of their own.

On Tuesday 24th January, Bryony Pritchard (an independent artist working at YSP) came into school to help the children create sculptures of their own. These included building nests from materials they gathered from the woodland area on our school site, carving patterns in soap and moulding sculptures from clay. The children had a fantastic three days. Their motivation, creativity and perseverance was exceptional throughout the workshop and children learnt how to collaborate successfully in different teams.
