Outdoor Learning
In our expansive school grounds we have a permaculture garden and a edible playgrounds. Children take part in lessons and after-school clubs, exploring the outdoors with their teacher or with our own qualified level 3 Forest School Practitioner. Activities include den-building, open-fire cooking, leaf/tree identifications and more. We have also achieved the Woodland Trust Green Tree Gold Schools Award and the RHS Level 1 Gardening School Award.
In 2019 Newhall Park became a Centre of Excellence for School Sport and PE through the Yorkshire Sport Foundation for South and West Yorkshire with a focus on outdoor learning. Centres of Excellence are schools with expertise and outstanding practice in their specialist areas. They have a proven track record of securing improved outcomes for young people and all of the support they offer is free.
